Community update – Huntingdonshire Quarterly Meeting |
Dear Resident, Thank you to everyone who attended our meeting last night. For those who couldn’t join, here’s what was discussed: New priorities for the next three months: Updates on previous priorities: Knife crime We’ve made arrests for possession of knives and continue to run Operation Guardian, which targets habitual knife carriers. We are also carrying out ongoing engagement with local schools, delivering education sessions and working closely with staff and safeguarding teams. Anti-social behaviour in Yaxley Action: We have carried out targeted patrols alongside the Rural Crime Action Team, North Neighbourhood Teams and partners. Drones have been deployed to access harder to reach areas and officers and PCSOs have been patrolling the green areas and identifying hotspots. We continue to work to identify repeat offenders so that appropriate enforcement action can be taken. Educational work with local schools on this issue is also planned. Anti-social behaviour in the Oxmoor Action: We have continued targeted patrols across the area, focusing on green spaces and locations where reports of off‑road bikes have previously been received. In February, officers seized an off‑road bike from a young person, and since then we have seen a significant reduction in related incidents. We continue to patrol the area and monitor reports. The team continue to use intelligence to target specific individuals involved in drug use and supply. Anti-social behaviour in green spaces St Ives Action: High visibility patrols with several positive stop searches carried out and people dealt with for possession of cannabis. Collaborative working with local partners to address concerns in Wyton-on-the-Hill Action: Regular high visibility patrols, met with Wyton Parish Council, RAF Wyton Station Commander and the PCC to discuss issues. Bike marking in Houghton. Offered engagements including coffee with a cop, school visit and youth club visit. Youth related anti-social behaviour in St Neots Action: Problematic e-scooter located and section 59 issues. A group causing ASB in the town have been identified and meeting arranged to address offending behaviour including partner agencies such as schools, HBAC and housing. Speeding in St Neots Action: Days of action targeting speeding vehicles in the areas of Huntingdon Street, Cambridge Street and Kimbolton.
📅 Next meeting: Online on 22 June at 7pm
Kind Regards, Inspector Colin Norden Huntingdonshire Neighbourhood Team
